DAVOS: Business leader, entrepreneur and Melinda Gates Foundation head Bill Gates on Thursday appreciated tremendous success of Pakistan in eradication of polio virus from the country over the past three years. Gates called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif here at the Congress Centre for the 47th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, according to a statement issued by the media cell of the prime minister. Commending the leadership role of the prime minister, Gates said that the year 2017 would be a year of polio eradication from Pakistan. On the occasion, Prime Minister Nawaz briefed Bill Gates on the measures taken by his government in the national fight against the deadly polio virus. He said that the federal government along with all provincial governments, Azad Jammu Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan were collectively involved in efforts for polio eradication. He said that all resources at federal and provincial levels were being fully utilised for achieving a polio free Pakistan and ensuring healthy future generations. During the meeting, Gates said that he was looking forward to his visit to Pakistan in coming months.
